Women on Mission

Where does your heart beat for missions?

Women on Mission® is ongoing missions involvement and learning that extends across the globe. Missions opportunities, learning materials and many free resources have been created to help women develop a missions lifestyle. As a part of Women on Mission, ladies have the opportunity to participate in missions and ministries that enable them to experience a variety of ways to serve Christ.

Ultimately, the purpose of all Women on Mission activities is that every person have the opportunity to hear and respond to the gospel.

Women's Missionary Union (WMU) is an auxiliary of the Southern Baptist Convention that was founded in 1888. It is the largest Protestant Missions organization in the world with approximately one million men, women, youth and children.

The purpose of WMU is to equip women, teenagers and children to be involved in the mission of God through Mission Study, Mission Support and Mission Action.

WMU is for women in the church who are age 18 years and up. Through their involvement they can assist the church extend its witness and ministry to help bring people to Christ.

Our meetings are held on the 4th Thursday of the month with the exception of November and December. We meet in the FLC at 6 PM and share a fellowship meal together.

Our meetings consist of a short business meeting followed by a time of Mission Study, prayer time for our missionaries and taking care of our missions action projects.

Some of the ministry and mission projects have consisted of:

• Sending cards to the sick and shut-ins
• Making cookies baskets for mothers of new babies in our church and the Police & Fire department employees
• We do many yearly projects for the Peanut Festival
• In November we make and carry fruit baskets to our homebound

Recently we adopted missionaries to Shizuoka, Japan. Below is a list of their needs. Men's and Women's shaving cream Macaroni & Cheese Instant Mashed Potatoes Seasonings Cake, Brownie and Muffin Mix Frosting Men's Disposable Razors Women's Magazines Devotional Guides Worship Music Children's DVD / CD's We sent care packages and were able to see the blessing through the wonderful letter we received from our missionaries.
